Ramirez Farm

My social justice issue is Ramirez Farm due to the current plans the city of Union City has to build a highway extension through the farm. Ramirez Farm is the oldest farmhouse in the area of Union City and Fremont. This issue is affecting the Union City community by taking away the left open space available in the city in addition to the access to fresh locally grown crops the farm has to offer. The construction of this highway extension additionally will negatively effect the water supply for the city and the surrounding land. It is important to address this issue because it is recognizing how gentrification is ripping apart our communities to accommodate people who arent native to the area.
